The Foundation Programme
Wednesdays
07:00 - 09:00 pm
Foundation Programme (FP) provides an opportunity to engage in a more in-depth and structured approach to the study and practice of meditation and Buddhism.
It is a tried and tested way to gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of Buddha’s teachings through systematic study and meditation on the essential subjects of Kadampa Buddhism based on six books by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
Foundation Programme is for those who have had some experience of the General Programme (GP) classes and wish to deepen their experience and practice of Buddha's teachings. Classes include guided meditation, teaching and group discussion, all aimed at enabling students to develop their daily practice and support each other to become skilful meditation practitioners.
Joining the Foundation Programme involves enrolling to study one book (or section of a book), having the intention to attend all the classes (apologies allowed for family or work) and sitting an exam at the end of the book or section. Each class consists of chanted prayers, a guided meditation, teaching and discussion. You are welcome to attend a class before enrolling and you can join at any time.
Current programme _ Introduction class
From February 2025 the programme will be studying the book “The New Heart of Wisdom” by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. There will be an introduction class to FP on 12th February, so anyone interested to know more about the programme could come along to this class. The class is taught by our Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Tilopa.
