Prayers

“In general, prayers made by an assembly of many practitioners are very powerful and cannot be compared to the prayers of one or two people. The scriptures give the analogy of a broom. If we try to clean a floor with a few bristles we shall make little progress, but if we gather many bristles to make a broom we shall be successful.”

- Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

Je Tsongkhapa, king of the dharma

Wishfulfilling Jewel, with meditation

Monday to Thursday mornings

8:00 - 9:10

These prayers are the heart practice of all Kadampa Buddhists.  In them we pray to Wisdom Buddhas Je Tsongkhapa and Dorje Shugden, in order to gather the blessings necessary for success in our practice and to prevent outer and inner obstacles that would otherwise hinder it.

35 Confession Buddhas

Monday and Thursday mornings

7:00 - 7:35

One of the most powerful purification practices is the Mahayana Sutra of the Three Superior Heaps, also known as The Bodhisattva’s Confession of Moral Downfalls. In this practice, we visualize the Thirty-five Confession Buddhas and practise purification in their presence. Through the power of their blessings and prayers, we can swiftly purify even the heaviest negative actions simply by faithfully reciting their names. During this practice, we will make one prostration to each of the 35 Buddhas.

Dorje-Shugden Dharma Protector

Melodious Drum Victorious in all Directions
Once a month (on or around 29th)

This extensive sadhana, or “method of attainment,” is for fulfilling our commitment to rely on the Dharma Protector and to practice Lamrim, Lojong, and Mahamudra, and for restoring any degenerate or broken commitments During this puja we make extensive offerings.

‘Having the good quality of contentment with few desires, studying profusely the scriptural tradition of the great Charioteers, with detailed analysis and focused discussion, and quoting countless scriptural citations and reasonings; through this practice may I fulfill the heart commitments of Dorje Shugdans five lineages and their retinues. Please accomplish the wishes of all practitioners and protect the pure doctrine of Je Tsongkhapa.’
